Fable 2

Just started playing Fable 2 and so far it is fantastic. The creators of the game also included a very interesting innovation as well. During the first mission you come across a treasure chest that asks you to log onto the website www.fable2.com to something about ancients and all that jazz. You log on and after figuring the only thing on the site must be what they are talking about, you go through a flash game and get some prize. While the whole thing was a bit of a waste of time; I found the whole idea incredibly fascinating. I can see how this interaction between the console gaming and your computer could make some very interesting possibilities. Most people who are playing games have a computer and internet connection, and most are probably like me who have the internet open while they are playing. While some are going to consider this concept just another way for shameless advertisement inside games, I really think that this innovation will open new doors in interactive gaming. Oh, and the game is really good too.

What is Pissing Me Off Today... Vol 1

Sony. That's what is pissing me off. I just got the PlayStation 3 and am all psyched that the Firmwear 2.40 is going to be released which add trophies. And, what does Sony do? Pulls the update because some people were having problems. Now, the reason this really irks me is because it has kept me from really playing Metal Gear Solid 4. Since, I know that the trophies are coming, it makes no sense to really get into the game before the update. So I sit here, on my hands, waiting to see if they post the update... hopefully soon.

Why God? Why?

For some ungodly reason PBS has created a Click & Clack animated series. For people who don't know who Click & Clack are... they are two obnoxious hosts of the (apparently) popular NPR radio show Car Talk (also known as two annoying guys laughing at unfunny stuff while usually giving people wrong advice about their broken cars). My hatred for these two obnoxious people grew when my alarm clock was tuned to WHYY and I was horribly roused out of bed by these two. Normally I am able to turn off the radio and get right back to the long awaited weekend sleep. But for some reason Click & Clack's annoying banter would singe in my head and prevent any chance of returning to a relaxing slumber (at least without having horrible nightmares about mechanics from Boston). Now after learning about this cartoon, I have to live my life in fear that I may wake up and find the tv tuned to PBS and this abomination on TV.

Do I Look Fat... PS3 Trophies

So Sony is introducing their award system on July 2nd with the 2.4 update. However, the trophies, which they will be using, will not be retroactive. Meaning that you will not get trophies for game you already played. All I have to say to this is woo-hoo because I ain't got my PlayStation 3 yet, and I won't have it until after July 2nd. So, to all you suckers who thought they were so cool because they had a PS3 before me... Screw You now you have to play through all those games again. And I know you are probably saying... "oh I don't care about my level or these stupid trophies". Well, my guess is you don't have an XBox360 and are unaware about how self-conscious you become over your gamer score. Microsoft, probably unassumingly, taped into the human psychi and the compulsive nature of gamers when they came up with the achievement system. And with great success. I know that I would have bought games for the 360 merely on the basis that they would have achievements on that platform. But now that Sony is adding this trophy system, I will probably be more inclined to buy game on the PS3 just to level myself up a little... I don't want everyone thinking I'm a n00b!

Phish Reunion

Most everyone who loves/loved Phish is familiar with the comments of both Trey and Tom. The comments clearly show that Trey would love to get the band back together. My feelings on this... not so much. While I still love Phish (but admittedly not nearly as much as when they were touring) I'm pretty sure most people will agree that the creativity of the band took a huge drop after the 'hiatus' and convinced many 'phishheads' to turn away from the band. At the time I thought that these people were crazy. Although the quality of the music had taken a noticeable downturn... It was still Phish! Today, I completely understand where the ones who abandoned Phish after the hiatus were coming from. Why do I want to see a band that I have seen so many times? And when I can be almost gurenteed that the experience will never live up the memories that I have. I've made peace with the fact that I'll never see a Harpua live. And I love seeing and hearing the amazingly creative music that Mike Gordon does now that Phish is done. So, would I go to a Phish concert if they came back? Probably. But I'm not driving more than 50 miles. Do I want to see Phish come back. No, not really.
